Reuben VS. Rachel

Have you ever heard of the Rachel? It is a twist on the classic Reuben sandwich using turkey rather than corned beef.



Often times when I buy corned beef at the deli (which is pricey),  I run out of corned beef before I run out of the rye, sauerkraut, and other ingredients I have lying around to make Ruebens. A great alternative is to use turkey instead.

Whether you don’t like corned beef or don’t have enough room in your budget for it, turkey is a great alternative to get the great taste of a rueben without the corned beef.

Reuben Sandwiches

Prep Time 5 minutes


  • Rye Bread
  • Corned Beef
  • Sauerkraut
  • Thousand Island Dressing
  • Miracle Whip optional
  • Swiss Cheese


  1. Place rye bread on a cookie sheet, one piece for every sandwich you want to make. Layer corned beef, sauerkraut, dressings, and then cheese.

  2. Place in the oven under broil until cheese is melted, top with a slice of rye bread and put back in the oven for 30-60 seconds until bread is toasted as desired. ENJOY!!!

*** Substitute corned beef for turkey to make a Rachel instead of a Rueben.
